Meet the Dance Instructors


Marsha Butcher: As a student, Marsha was a member of the Springfield Ballet Company. She also attended summer dance intensives with Nashville Ballet and David Howard. Marsha is a 2008 graduate of Illinois State University with a double major in dance and elementary education. While attending ISU, Marsha was a member of Illinois State Dance Theatre and president of Illinois State Dance Association. She also had the opportunity to perform works by a variety of guest artists, including Joe Goode Performance Group, Hubbard Street, Paul Taylor, Trisha Brown, Eddy Ocampo and Shelter Repertory Dance Theatre. Marsha choreographed and performed for the American College Dance Festival. Marsha taught ballet, modern and jazz at Interlochen Center for the Arts during their summer camp program. Marsha currently teaches at Springfield Dance in Springfield, IL.

Rachelle Maurer is the director and instructor at Studio M Dance Centre. Rachelle started dancing at the age of 3 and was a member of Linda Ushman’s Dance Centre for 15 years. She is also a certified dance instructor through Dance Educators of America in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics, hip-hop and modern, and was in the company and on the competitive team. While with the dance company, she performed on Broadway in New York City, at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida and performed aboard Carnival Cruise Lines. Rachelle was a member of the competition team for eight years and was a studio assistant for 5 years.

Rachelle graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in criminal law. She and her husband, Joey, have two children, Leena and Jude. She loves dance and working with young, inspired dancers. She is having so much fun already and is looking forward to working with all the dancers for years to come!

Ashlie Midiri is the owner and head instructor at Studio M Dance Centre in Chatham. Ashlie grew up in Springfield and has 28 years of dance experience, and is a certified dance instructor through Dance Educators of America. She was a member of Linda Ushman’s Dance Centre from the age of 3, started competing at the age of 7 and continued dancing on her college dance team. Ashlie has studies under many professionals from all over the world, receiving several honors including scholarships from LA Danceforce and Dupree Dance Convention. She studied at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City, competed in many regional and national competitions, and has performed twice in Disney’s Magic Music Days program in Orlando, Florida, the “Nutcracker on Broadway,”and Carnival Cruise Lines. Ashlie graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a dual degree in early childhood elementary and special education K-12. She lives in Springfield with her husband Danny and their two children. She is excited and honored to be a part of this program and has been having an amazing time working with the young dancers!

Heather Morris has 29 years of dancing experience, and is a certified dance instructor through Dance Educators of America. She has received scholarships to the Broadway Dance Centre in NYC as well as LA Danceforce and Dupree Dance Convention Scholarships. She was chosen as a “Sweetheart” scholarship winner at the I Love Dance dance competition, and was also chosen to participate in the “Success America” scholarship program through the Star Systems nationals competition, where she was invited to attend several classes in New York and participate in a special performance for industry professionals. She has studied under many professional instructors from all over the nation, including NYC and LA. She has also competed in regional and national competitions, has performed in the “Nutcracker on Broadway,” Disney’s Magic Music Days program in Orlando, Florida and was a half-time performer at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. She performed in the opening act for Phyllis Diller at the PCCC, was a Universal Dance Association instructor and was a member of the Illinois State University’s competitive dance team. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Springfield where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in management. Following in her footsteps, many of her students have also received scholarships on the convention circuit, All-Star scholarships, and the most notable was a two-week scholarship to the Edge Performing Arts Centre through the Tremaine Dance Convention. Miss Heather would like to say thank you to all of her students, past and present, for helping to shape the person and educator she is today!

Tiffany Riech graduated magna cum laude from Illinois State University with a B.S. in theater & dance in 2015. She is very excited to be working with Kohl’s Gotta Dance for the first time this year and has had a blast working with her students! Tiffany is a dance instructor for Dance Arts Studio in Springfield, the dance teacher for Springfield Theatre Centre’s PAVE and currently runs her own dance Program, Cass County Dance Co., in Beardstown, IL.

She has been dancing since the young age of two and has extensive training in several styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, modern, pointe and contemporary. Tiffany is currently trying to make her dreams of being a professional performer and choreographer come true. She was recently hired by RWS Entertainment group to perform in King’s Island’s Winterfest in Mason, Ohio and has choreographed several musicals from central Illinois to Texas!

From 2005-2017, Tiffany was a member of the Springfield Ballet Company and performed in shows such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Rockballet, The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo + Juliet, Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Cinderella. Tiffany is also an avid local theater performer where she has performed in several musicals and plays, including State Fair (Margy Frake), Showboat (Ellie May Chipley), West Side Story (Graziella), Guys & Dolls (Hot Box Dancer), Peter Pan (TigerLily), Crazy for You (Vera), All Shook Up, Beauty & the Beast, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, Rock of Ages (Sapphire), Hello Dolly (Minnie Fay), A Chorus Line (Lorraine) & performed as Hunyak in Chicago: the Musical.
